NORTH BAY — St. Joseph-Scollard Hall graduate and author, Kayla ‘K.M.’ Herbert, has launched her debut novel, “The Book of Moons.”
Originally from North Bay, Kayla now resides in England where she completed her first young adult novel, “The Book of Moons.” The novel was longlisted for an award in 2018 and earlier this year, was picked up by Yorkshire-based publishing house Fisher King Publishing.
The book, which has already made it onto multiple Amazon bestseller lists in Canada, saw its launch on Friday. Set in Ireland in the 1970s, it’s the story of 16-year-old Kathy who is on the run from a convent orphanage and finds herself in a camp of Irish Travellers. Reviewers have called it “hauntingly beautiful” and “an intriguing blend of worlds, revolving around the relationships, past, present and future, that bind us.”
Kayla said: “I’m delighted to see the positive feedback so far for ‘The Book of Moons.’ It was a pleasure to research and write. It means a lot to share this with my hometown. I hope this story brings some comfort and entertainment to my readers in these trying times.”
“The Book of Moons” was released on June 5 by Fisher King Publishing. It is available from Amazon in paperback and Kindle, or online from your local bookshop.
